Design product images
Stop designing each product image by hand. With PixelFiddler’s template editor, you build a visual layout once — then generate as many product images, banners, or social media posts as you need by swapping in different products, prices, and text automatically.
No design software required. No coding. Just a visual drag-and-drop editor that runs in your browser.

What is a template?
Section titled “What is a template?”A template is a reusable visual design that acts as a blueprint for your product images. Think of it like a master slide in a presentation — you set up the layout, colors, and branding once, then fill in different content each time you generate an image.
Every template is made up of two parts:
- Canvas — the background and dimensions of your design
- Layers — the individual elements stacked on top, such as product photos, text, shapes, and icons
When you hit generate, PixelFiddler composites all your layers together and delivers a finished image ready to upload to any marketplace or social channel.
The visual editor
Section titled “The visual editor”The template editor gives you a familiar drag-and-drop workspace. Select any layer, move it around the canvas, resize it, and see your changes in real time.
Key editing features include:
- Drag and position any layer precisely on the canvas
- Resize and rotate layers with handles or exact pixel values
- Adjust opacity and blend modes to create layered effects
- Apply effects like blur, brightness, contrast, and shadows to individual layers
- Reorder layers to control which elements appear in front or behind
Layer types
Section titled “Layer types”Each layer you add to a template serves a different purpose. You can mix and match these to build any layout you need:
| Layer type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Image | Displays a product photo or background image from your media library |
| Text | Adds headlines, prices, descriptions, or any other copy with full font and color control |
| Shape | Draws rectangles, circles, and other geometric elements for backgrounds, dividers, or accents |
| QR code | Generates a scannable QR code that can link to your product page or store |
| SVG icon | Places vector icons and graphics that stay crisp at any size |
| AI-generated image | Creates an image from a text description using built-in AI models |
Canvas presets
Section titled “Canvas presets”Getting the dimensions right for every platform is tedious. PixelFiddler includes built-in canvas presets so you can start with the correct size for your target platform:
- Amazon — main images, A+ content modules, storefront banners
- Shopify — product photos, collection banners
- Instagram — square posts, stories, reels covers
- Facebook — feed images, ads, cover photos
- eBay, Etsy, and more
You can also set a custom width and height if your use case does not match a preset.

Dynamic variables
Section titled “Dynamic variables”This is where templates become truly powerful for e-commerce. Instead of editing a design every time you want a new product image, you define variables — placeholders that get filled in automatically at generation time.
Two types of variables are available:
- Text variables — swap product names, prices, discount percentages, taglines, or any other copy
- Image variables — swap the product photo, background, or any image layer
For example, you could build a single “Sale Banner” template with variables for the product image, product name, original price, and sale price. Then generate a unique banner for every item in your catalog without opening the editor again.
Bulk generation
Section titled “Bulk generation”Once your template uses variables, you can generate images in bulk by passing different values for each product. This is ideal for:
- Launching a seasonal sale across your entire catalog
- Creating consistent product cards for a new collection
- Generating marketplace-specific images for every SKU
- Updating prices or promotional text across all visuals at once
One template, one set of variable values per product, and PixelFiddler handles the rest.
