Create your first product banner
In this guide you will build a simple product banner from scratch using PixelFiddler’s template editor. By the end, you will have a finished 800x800 product card with a product photo, a title, and a price — ready to use on your store or social media.
The whole process takes about five minutes. No design software, no Photoshop, no code.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”Before you start, make sure you have at least one product photo in your media library.
Step 1 — Open the template editor
Section titled “Step 1 — Open the template editor”In the left sidebar, click Templates. This opens the template library where all your designs are stored.
Click Create template in the upper-right corner.

Step 2 — Name your template
Section titled “Step 2 — Name your template”Give your template a name. For this walkthrough, type sale-banner.
Step 3 — Pick a canvas preset
Section titled “Step 3 — Pick a canvas preset”The canvas is the background of your design — it sets the overall size and shape of the final image.
Click the Canvas preset dropdown and select Product Card (800x800). This gives you a square canvas that works well for most marketplaces and social platforms.
Step 4 — Set a background color
Section titled “Step 4 — Set a background color”With the canvas selected, look at the Properties panel on the right side of the editor. Find the Background color field and set it to white (ffffff). A white background keeps the focus on your product and looks clean on any platform.
You now have a blank 800x800 white canvas ready for your first layers.

Step 5 — Add your product image
Section titled “Step 5 — Add your product image”Time to bring in your product photo. You can add an image layer in two ways:
- Press I on your keyboard, or
- Click the image icon in the toolbar at the top of the canvas
A media browser will open showing your uploaded photos. Select the product photo you want to feature and click Add.
Your image appears as a new layer on the canvas. Use the handles around the image to resize it, and drag it to position it where you want — center it on the canvas with some breathing room at the top and bottom for text.

Step 6 — Add a product name
Section titled “Step 6 — Add a product name”Now add a text layer for your product title. You can do this in two ways:
- Press T on your keyboard, or
- Click the text icon in the toolbar
A text layer appears on the canvas. Type your product name — for example, Summer Collection.
With the text layer selected, use the Properties panel on the right to style it:
- Font — pick a clean, readable font that matches your brand
- Size — try 36px as a starting point and adjust to taste
- Color — set it to a dark color like black (
000000) or your brand color
Drag the text layer above or below your product image. For a classic product card layout, position the product name above the image near the top of the canvas.

Step 7 — Add a price
Section titled “Step 7 — Add a price”Add a second text layer for the price using the same method — press T or click the text icon.
Type your price, for example $49.99.
Style it in the Properties panel:
- Font — use the same font as your product name for consistency
- Size — make it slightly larger or bolder than the product name to draw attention (try 42px with bold weight)
- Color — consider using a brand accent color or a bold red for sale prices
Position the price below the product image, toward the bottom of the canvas.

Step 8 — Review your layout
Section titled “Step 8 — Review your layout”Take a moment to check the overall layout. The editor has three panels to help you fine-tune your design:
- Layers panel (left) — shows all your layers stacked in order. Drag layers up or down to change which elements appear in front
- Canvas (center) — your live preview where you can drag and resize layers visually
- Properties panel (right) — detailed controls for the currently selected layer, including exact position coordinates, size values, opacity, and more
Tweak positions, font sizes, and colors until the banner looks the way you want. There is no right or wrong here — you are building something that represents your brand.
Step 9 — Save the template
Section titled “Step 9 — Save the template”When you are happy with the design, click Save in the top toolbar. Your template is now stored in your template library and ready to use.
You can come back and edit it anytime by clicking on the template name in the Templates section.
Step 10 — Generate your product banner
Section titled “Step 10 — Generate your product banner”Now for the rewarding part — turning your template into a finished image.
- Go to Media Management in the sidebar
- Click the From template button in the header
- Select the template you just created
- Fill in any variable values (if you used dynamic variables)
- Choose the output location and filename
- Click Generate
PixelFiddler composites all your layers together and produces a polished product banner. After a moment, the generated image appears in your media library, ready to download or use wherever you need it.

Congratulations — you just created your first product banner without opening any design software. The template you built is saved and reusable, so you can generate more banners anytime from the From template button in your Media Library.
